Good reasons to get a piercing
So I'm 15 and I've been dying to get my cartilage peirced. My friend and I were planing to go get our cartilages peicerd together. I asked my mom about it and she said no. I told that if I clean it and take good care of it that it won't get infected but she still wouldn't listen. What should I do to at least consider letting me get it peicered??

I've found that when trying to coerce one's parents into something, being pushy is the worst thing to do.

If you think that it's something you really want, try to be responsible in other areas of your life to show them you can be responsible and maybe, eventually, they'll let you.

Ultimately they are your parents so respect their decision. Also, it's probably a good idea to ask them why the think you shouldn't get a cartilage piercing. Just to get some insight on what they're thinking.

Sorry that probably wasn't what you were hoping to hear but I've been in your place before and it's not something worth risking a good relationship with your parents over.

I can't see why she wouldn't let you get it done.. its in your ear so you shouldn't get in trouble with your school or anything, but I guess its her decision at the end of the day.. did she give you reasons as to why not?

My dad is pretty laid back and when I was mid-teens he would give me things to do and goals to reach before I could get a piercing I wanted..
-keep above a B- in all subjects at school
    -do housework
-be honest about everything and don't sneak about
-earn the money to get it done (eg. A job)
    -keep my room clean
-deal with any consequences that could come along (school rules)
-keep it clean and if you allow it to get infected then you won't get any more piercings until you're legal enough to get it done by yourself (18)

My advice is that and just don't push her or nag her about it because its unlikely shell give in, also if you nag her and start throwing a strop or sulking if she says no then it shows you're not mature enough to get it done.

    Hope this helped, good luck.

    My parents hated piercings.
    And still do, so much.

But by now I have my septum, spiderbites, belly, and hips,
And a couple on each ear.

The way I got away with this,
Is I told her all of the positive things about it,
Like, where to get it pierced,
    How they do it,
    The reviews on the piercer,
And said her opinion means the most in it.

Just explain it means a lot to you,
    And you pay for it.
