Murray 11hp riding lawnmower engine surge
Murray 11hp rider... engine surges. Dies out after a few minutes. Put fresh gas/plugs/fuel and air filters/. If I manually play with the linkage for the butterfly, I can keep it running. If I let it alone it dies. Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve

Let me guess... you leave gas in it all winter? Sounds to me like varnish buildup on the jets causing a lean mixture. What I do once a year is get a can of Seafoam and dump it into 5 gallon can of gas I use for the lawn equipment. Yeah that's a heavy does... but it did cure a surging at idle 20 hp Craftsman tractor. And made some old mowers easier to start. |

I have tried all I know to try and still my murray 11hp mower won't run. I need to know if there are any more fuses besides the one by the celenoid. I replaced the battery, starter switch, celanoid, sparkplug, and 15amp fuse by the celenoid. Are there any more fuses that I should look for? ...
How do I test the safety switch or bypass it to see if that is what it is.Why would it crank while sitting on it ,but know matter what gear it is in(even neutral) it cuts off ,but if you push in clutch/brake quickly it will stay cranked ?
My Question is That my Lawnmower will crank but when you release the clutch/brake it dies! Why would it do this?
Mower was running fine - had to put it in reverse and now the brake/clutch is stuck all the way down - you can change into any gear(which I'm guessing means the clutch is depressed) - will not go into gear though and will not move - How can fix this?
