Any rights for man who signed birth cert. raising baby but not real dad
My son just found out he's not the biological father of his 7mth old daughter whom he adores... hes beyond heartbroken as he was with his ex girlfriend during whole pregnancy and was the only person in delivery room when my granddaughter was born. He has been very involved in raising her and had assumed the majority of her day to day care while he's been at home on unemployment. Our family is heartbroken as we have all bonded with this sweet baby. Ex girlfriend texted him five days ago saying that another man had taken paternity test and is the babies biological father.. My son signed birth certificate Im just tryiing to figure out how a court of law would look at this situation I figure he's just out of luck when it comes to any ability to be apart of her life aside from if his ex decides to let him see his daughter.. . thank you for any advice offered!

First this is a legal issue so its been moved to the appropriate forum. Please choose your forum more carefully in the future.

Second, ANY question about laws needs to include your general area as laws vary by area.

Finally, the main issue here is whether the bio father wants to be the legal father. UNTIL the bio father goes to court to exercise his rights, your son will remain the legal father. If the bio father doesn't want to be the child's father, then your son can apply to adopt.

If the bio father does want to be the legal father things get murky and more dependent on local laws.
