    The plan administrator should be sending you updates each quarter. So look through your files for old paperwork that gives contact information for the plan adminsitrator - it's typically from a brokerage house, insurance compoany, or bank. Then call them.

    If you have thrown away all your records and failed toi provide your current mailing address to the plan admimnistrator - call your employer's HR department and ask how to find out about the status of your 401(k) account.
