I broke up with my boyfriend a week days ago, it broke my heart as well as his. I tried turning off my phone so that he couldn't get ahold of me because I was very upset that I hurt him so much. Then a few days after that he called me and I answered we talked and decided to meet up and talk. As soon I saw him I felt so bad he looked terrible he ran up and gave me a huge hug. I missed him, but I also thought that I was making the wrong decision to meet up with him because that would give him false hope of getting back together. Im sure that he could convince me to get back with him but I knew if I did a week would go by and I would then have to break up with him. My question is confusing, but I would like to know if I made the right decision by breaking up with him and do I feel sad because I do truly love him or do I just feel bad because he is so upset.

Also I would like to add everyone that has met him ex. My parents sister her boyfriend(who was also sort of friend of his) my aunty,cousins all have said before and after breaking up with him that he is controlling that he is not the right person for me and he basically treats me like ****.

If he is controlling and treats you badly then you made the right decision. It is natural to feel bad after you break up with someone and hurt as well, you shared something special for a while and of course it hurts when you hurt someone else. In time the hurt goes away, you find someone new and you move on. Did you think he treated you badly?

For whatever reason you broke up with him, make it a clean break for your own well being. No more waffling back and forth with talking just because you feel sorry for the fellow as its him that has to accept and respect your decision.

Drop the guilt of hurting his feelings and do the right thing for you both. And that's a clean break.
