    York thermostat
My inside thermostat temps are very erratic, says 60 when it's actually 79. Is my thermostat bad? Heat pump works fine if thermostat will let it.

I have another thermometer four feet from the thermostat. I have to turn the thermostat down to 60 to get the air to turn off because it's reading 61 instead of the 78 degrees that it actually is in the room.
