    Worthless stock
My brother passed away in Nov. 09, and while going through his personal belongings I found a Certificate of Stock, 50 shares, penny stock, of a company called Netword, Inc. Delaware. The stock was purchased in 1987, in Tulsa, Okla.
Can anyone tell me if this is still a viable stock or just a worthless piece of paper?

    Thanks

Do you know who issued the stock? Nasdaq NYSE or where it may be listed.

    Info is sketchy at best

Just an FYI - a lot of companies register in Delaware because there are some benefits of doing so, but these companies can operate anywhere in the US.

We bought 10,000 shares of stock in the late 90's in a "startup" company through a Canadian broker (we are in U.S.) which, as best we can tell, went belly-up. The brokerage gave us the stock certificate a few years ago. It is not traded anywhere. I would like to write it off as worthless stock....
