Failing blower motor or run capacitor?
    Good afternoon all.

This may be a failing blower motor issue but I would like to run it by you first. Normally, my thermostat, set to automatic, would send the signal to the AC to start when the temperature limit was passed. The Air Handler would first start followed shortly by the outside heat pump.

4 weeks ago, the air handler did not start… the heat pump would start all right but not the blower from the air handler. If I switched the thermostat to FAN ON, then nothing happened. At this point, I set the thermostat to OFF, then I power off the Air Handler circuit breaker, wait for 5 minutes, bring it back to the ON position. Turn the thermostat ON and voilà, the Air Handler blower kicks in all right. However, putting the thermostat to automatic again and after a normal shut off (or standby), the blower won’t start again (unless I manually power off the air handler circuit breaker for 5 minutes etc).

So I figured that the run capacitor was responsible. I changed it (it’s cheap) and saw what happens. It worked until now. I am back with a air handler that just won’t start without circuit breaker assistance.

Could this be the blower? My system is 7 years old…

Let me know what you think.

Any ideas? Or any threads that I could use (searched and didn't find anything close to that circuit breaker thingee)...

    Thanks
