    Purple spot on my boob
I went on holiday a few weeks back and I think I got bitten on my breast with these small black bugs, it started as a little red spot then it gradually got bigger and I've recently decided to pop it and white stuff and clear stuff came out it, now it's gone a purple colour and has a bruise around it, is it anything I need to worry about? It is too sore to try to pop it again I'm just a little worried about it can someone please answer this question? To put my mind at ease! :)

You should never 'pop' anything, sure way to get infection from dirty hands and fingers, and fingernails. I hate that expression 'pop it'. Just because it's a bump doesn't mean it has to be played with.

its purple because it is a bruise from squeezing the skin. Leave it alone, cleanse with 3% peroxide and see what happens. I am not supposed to diagnose, but not really at this point. But you have to keep your hands away from anything like that because you create what we call 'the circle of infection'. Which means you are opening up your whole body to infection because you are breaking the skin, which is our first line of defence. Once that goes, then watch out !

There, that's your health lesson to today, xshorty.

You need to have this checked out. It very well could be a staph infection.

Quit picking it and use antibiotic ointment on it.

IF it doesn't clear up in a few days, you should have it checked out by a doctor.

Agree with the other posters. Keep it clean and hands away! I'd also have your doctor look at it to be sure it hasn't already started to become infected. They may also want you to use a different topical medication on it.

I learned the hard way... little ant bite on my foot, no big deal... it itched, as ant bites often do, scratched at it for a few days, then thought I better put something on it so it wouldn't get infected, too late, horrible, horrible infection came on fast and furious... very painful, foot swelled, ugly reddish purple, could hardly walk on it, doctor gave me an antibiotic, day later found out I had developed an allergy to penicillin, doctor sent me straight to hospital for IV meds, and spent 4 days there.

All because of a stupid ant bite that I didn't take better care of!
