    I'm a 20 years old female student from Republic of Moldova, arrived in USA on May, on
    I'm a 20 years old female student from the Republic of Moldova, with a J-1 VISA in May-September(2010) Iwould like to apply for political asylum. What is my chance, knowing the harsh communist system in my native country?

    PA is granted if you, personally, have a reasonable fear of persecution as a member of a protected class. It is not designed to give relief for general country-wide or governmental conditions, no matter how harsh.

    Consult with an experienced PA attorney or Catholic Charities if they have a local office near you.

    I don't think you have enough grounds to seek political asylum. It's best to consult experienced immigration attorney.
