    Leaking shower connection
    I've bought a new shower hose and head as the old ones were a bit tatty. I fitted the new ones, with the new washers and there is a leak where the hose joins the shower box. There isn't a leak with the old parts and this is the second new hose I've tried and both have given me the same problem.

    It's as if there's too much water for the hose and it spills over, but the water also gets through the joint on the hose, or at least appears to. The same happened with both new hoses.

    The shower's a Mira Sport and is at least 7 years old - it was here when I bought the house!

    What can I do?

    Check your instruction manual. Believe it or not, for some units, the leak is considered normal. The logic escapes me, but I read it with my own eyes. At least check to see if that's what you're facing.

    Could it be that you've cross threaded the connection? Take it apart and make the connection again. Good luck, Tom

    Perhaps the way the end of the hose is made has changed. Try putting a two washers in the end of the hose.

    Hi all...

    I'm thinkin' PellMell may be onto something here... depending on mad lizz's answer to when the leak occurs...

    Mad Lizz... does the hose spray while showering or only at the end of the shower? Let us know as most of the newer shower hoses nowadays have VACUUM BREAKERS installed in the hose and cause the hose to "spray" or leak at the end of the shower.

    Basically, the vacuum breaker opens at the end of the shower and lets air into the hose. This prevents a direct connection between the shower head and the plumbing should the shower head/hose fall, for example, into a full tub of water.
