How do you shave down Corian countertops?
I ust bought a new gas stove to replace our old electric stove. We had Corian countertops installed a couple of years ago, and they installed the counter right up against the old stove. We are now trying to fit the new stove, and it is a 'hair' too wide for the existing opening. Can I just sand one edge with a belt sander to give me the room I need?

If it's only a "hair" I'd use hand sanding,150-22-grit. A belt sander can take a lot away in a hurry and it's hard to maintain a straight line. You might loosen the base cabinets on the other side and try to get some wiggle room.

Sanding, even for a "hair" is not practical. You won't be able to maintain straight line.

Best tool is router and straight edge. Can be done with circular saw and straight edge. Neither tool will be able to cut completely to back splash. Final 2" inches can be cut with hacksaw, then sand smooth. Post back for detail instructions and tell us what tool you will use.

Please advise me on technigue to buff out corian from years of use and occasional scrubbing marks from scour pads. No deep wounds to surface, just dull and scuffed.
