    Can Anyone Tell Me A Free Software To Open A ".dat" File? Will Be Very Grateful To You.

    .dat is a very generic extension. If you can tell us what type of file it is, we may be able to help you.

    Are you referring to the WINMAIL.DAT attachment that sometimes shows up as an email attachment?

    This is due to a configuration problem with the sender's email client. This link actually has some good info, and references for more: http://www.pchell.com/support/winmaildat.shtml

    .dat is a file extension used in the Microsoft Windows Operating System to mean "data"

    Now what can be used to open it depends on what program created it in the first place.

    If its not winmail.dat, then go back to the source of the file and ask what was used to create it.
