    Sleep disorders
I'm a female, 57 years old. I take a sleeping pill at bed time, zolpidem, but I still wake up exhausted, I work all night long in my dreams, I have restless legs and sleep apnea. What other suggestions do you have for me?

Menopause stinks! Have you have any blood work done, that's something to consider. My adrenal is low and that makes me exhausted all day long. I wish I had more for you, I'll be watching your post also for suggestions. Got to love menopause, I'm sure that has something to do with it!

I also take a sleep med.(Zaleplon/Generic for Sonata),if I wake at night ,like I sometimes do,the doc has added Trazodone to assist the sleep pills.

Now I am bipolar and sleep can be for 3 days or none for a week.. not that I don't nap during those times, but no true REM sleep.

The Trazodone come to me in 100mg form and I have been prescribed up to 400mg at night(the maximum), mostly though I only need 1-200mg to get the sleep I need, and it hasn't been a necessity for a while,so no long term need for it.I have it for those times when things are just not in line with the sleeping world.

Perhaps a suggestion to your med doc might help!

Sleep apnea, are you on a breathing machine for this, that alone can cause you to be tired when you wake up

To UnLuckyNut - I am post menapausal. Recently tried going without the harmones but the hot flashes were so bad I literally ended up severely dehydrated. Never heard of that one before. I have been back on a max dose of harmones for the last month so it may have something to do with it.
