Legal consequences for unmarried mother moving to another state
If a woman has a baby with her physically and mentally abusive boyfriend, can she move to another state or does she need to do anything legally first in order to take the baby and move?

If an unmarried woman with a baby decides to move to another state without the baby's father's consent (the father of the baby is both physically and mentally abusive to the mother), what are the legal consequences for her?

If he is abusive there is something you should do first.

File a police report. Get a protective order to keep him away.

Get a lawyer and establish custody and file for child support.

Consult your attorney about moving. A professional opinion is the safe way to find out for sure how your state handles that.

    I wish you well.
