    My mother is in Hospice care. Can Power of Attorney sign checks?
    My mom is receiving Hospice care in the state of Oregon. Bills are coming in. Can my brother, who she designated as Power of Attorney in her Living Trust, sign her checks.

    Does the POA contract he signed or in her trust say he can sign her checks? Has he checked with the bank about this too, so that they have his POA papers on file?

    I had POA for my uncle in Illinois and could sign his checks, but first had to file my papers with the bank. MY POA agreement did say I could make all sorts of financial transactions in his name.

    What exactly does the POA state. Normally for a living will it is merely for medical decisions, not for money issues.

    If he was given a full POA or one that stated paying bills, then he can. He will normallyhave to provide the bank a copy of the POA
