The thought police are with us
So campers don't even think about strangling that person who annoys you so much or you will be convicted whether you did it or not. In a bizarre reflection of Minority Report it appears it is now possible to predict that a person will commit a crime
Mind-reading scientists say future crime can be predicted with '100 per cent' accuracy | News.com.au
I think all incoming US presidents should be tested to ensure they don't have meglomaniac tendencies which would produce another Iraq war

This was a great way to start the day Paraclete. Thank you for posting this.

What I love the best was this little gem:

"Given this prior knowledge, researchers in the test were able to correlate the rise in brain wave activity to guilty knowledge with 100 per cent accuracy across all the students that participated."

Yeah, as long as we know ahead of time about the terrorist plans, the accuracy is 100%.

    The last sentence:
"The test was 83 per cent accurate in predicting concealed knowledge, suggesting that our complex protocol could identify future terrorist activity."

No matter which way you slice it, 83% doesn't add up to 100%. So, someone may lose their job, family, friends (,an election!),. based upon the possibility they may perform a terrorist act. Wonderful.

I wonder how much of our hard earned money was thrown at this "important" research. Sheesh.

What bothers me is that they don't go into what the students do that were typically tested. For example. A tenn plays games like COD4 ( Call of Duty) which is very realistic and takes place in current times against enemies of today's time and uniform. I wonder how much of that can be picked up too. Also they didn't mention how long between testing and knowlage the tests were. Id say this is the more insane end of science to me. Is this the next step for a person that has committed a crime or a potential witness?
