Car DOESN'T SHIFTwhen its ON(Manual Trans).
When the engine is off, the car goes into gear, but when I turn it on and press the clutch it doesn't want to go into gear. I tried starting it while in first and reverse; the result is the car jumps then the engine dies. I do not know if my tranny is bad because it goes into gear when the engine is off or if its my clutch. I changed the clutch master to see if that was the problem but no luck. I have not changed the slaive cylinder. I was thinking of doing so to see if its not putting enough pressure to cause the clutch to disengage. Please help! MY car is been stuck for 4 days and counting. My clutch is hydraulic not cable.

Sounds like a bad slave unit. Two things are important with hydraulic clutches:
1. Don't overfill the clutch master cylinder reservoir.
2. Change the brake fluid every 2 years, to flush all of the crud from the system and replace the lubricity and corrosion properties of the fluid.

Thanks man for the input. Yeah I couldn't change the slave unit when I changed the clutch master because my slave is hard to find. I hoping it is the slave so I don't have to pull tranny. If its not the slave what else may cause such a problem?

What kind of car do you have? How many miles on the tranny? You could have wear on the release fork that goes into the transmission or on the end of the slave unit ball. The ball-end is supposed to be greased (super high temperature urea grease) on some models. If it's not the slave unit, my guess is you may have to pull the clutch.

I have a honda Civic. Well as far as how many miles I have on my tranny, I can't really answer that accurately because I had bought the car from someone and they had told me it was pretty new. I don't know how well I could trust that, but for as long as I had the car about year there was no problem. As far as "wear" how can I determine that? I'll tell you this, my cousin was telling me that the slave doesn't seem to be pushing all the way out. If that's the case is due to the slave?

What year Civic? If your Civic is fairly new, then the problem is not wear but a bad slave unit. Slave units are easy to replace and are coveniently located right up front on most Civics.
Removal:
1. Disconnect the clutch pipe from the slave cylinder. Plug the end of the clutch pipe with a shop towel to prevent brake fluid from coming out.
2. Remove the slave cylinder from the clutch housing, which is held on by two bolts.
Installation:
1. Install slave cylinder on clutch housing, then connect the clutch pipe. Make sure the boot is installed on the slave cylinder. Apply grease on the ball-end of the slave cylinder and brake assembly lube on the sealing lip of the boot.
2. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.

Year is 93. Thanks for your input. All I need now is a slave for a GSR tranny. Hopefully that is the problem other wise I may have to pull tranny, which I don't really want to do.

'92 Accord Horn/Trans Lock - Main Relay

I replaced my main relay due to intermittent no-start. Now the horn won't blow and the auto trans won't unlock without manual key.
When I replaced the main relay, I did not remount to side wall. Tied to a cooler spot under dash.
Did I do something wrong? Simple as a fuse?
