    Mucus in dog stool
I was on here a few months ago asking about my very sick dog, he's doing great now and we haven't had any more problems but I've just recently noticed that he has some mucus in his stool. The stool itself is normal but there's just a little mucus in it. Is this anything I should have checked out or just one of those things that happens sometimes? He is an older dog, somewhere between 6-10, but he's had a steady diet and nothing else has changed. We did have some visitors for a few weeks and he was a little stressed about having so many people in the house. Can stress cause changes in bowel movements? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Mucus in the stool typically comes from Giardia.

Take him back, get his stool tested.

It can also be caused by stress.. Stress in dogs shows as colitis. Mild cases will show mucus in the stool. You can treat this without going to the vet. However, since your dog did just recover from whatever illness he had, I would highly suggest that you go back.

To test for colitis, a blood test has to be taken. You'll be given some antibiotics and probably a very bland dog food.

Here is a website on how you can help your pooch out.

He had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis three months ago but I'll call the vet and have him checked. Thanks for your help.
