    Main dwv trap
Our old septic sys. Failed this summer & the new tank is 60 feet from the house. Old tank was 200 feet away. We now have odors apparently coming through the main dwv out the roof vents and accumulating at ground level. Would a trap in the main dwv prior to exiting the foundation work? I'm concerned about it clogging up since the slope isn't what it is like under a sink or tub.
Going broke on air freshener, Any help?

Put a thing called a running trap just outside the house maybe five feet or so... Put a clean out between the house and the running trap. The trap will stop the smell and the clean out will give you an access to unstop the trap, which hardly every happens.

Another option that wouldn't involve digging up the sewer line would to install Odor Hogs (see image) on those stinky vents. Check it out at; http://www.odorhog.ca/
    Good luck, Tom

P-trap GAP - p-trap too low to meet sink drain extension [ 13 Answers ]

I just took an old crane drexel sink off the wall and replaced it for the time being ( I want to fix the older sink) with a cheap vanity/sink set. All that was easy enough, but now to my chagrin I can't finish the job. The p trap is too low, the extension pipe from the sink doesn't go all...

I'm starting a long delayed home construction in a rural area with no plumbing codes in force. I plan on laying out the under slab DWV lines. Below in my amatuerish plan which I'm sure has glaring red flag issues that I need to adjust. Can you offer some input ? The main waste line run is about 40...

Why use copper for DWV? [ 6 Answers ]

Hello, Something's been nagging me for a while. Several different kinds of material are used for DWV systems, each with its own pros and cons. PVC (and I guess ABS) is inexpensive and easy to work with, but is not allowed by all codes, and is a lot noisier (I've been to a few houses where...

I am doing the rough-in on a bathroom remodel (trying to save some money). It is actually 2 small bathrooms back to back that share a 2x6 common wall - sink, toilet, shower with the mirror image on the other side. Each fixture will share common venting/drainage with its mirror fixture (sink-sink,...
