My girlfriend is fixing my friends car... and in the router there is retaining screws.. she tried to drill them out.. but after drilling a hole threw it.. they still won't come out. Does anyone have any clue on what to do?

Are you talking about removing the screw securing the rotor inside a distributor? Is it a Honda?

. If there's any head left, try a pair of Vise Grips.

. If you are good, you may be able to drill a small hole in the screw and use an internal Easy Out.

. Otherwise, remove the head to the screw and use a small mallet and ice pick to undo the screw. Tap "what the screw goes through" to first try and break it loose, after removing the head. You may want to apply PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench to the screw.

If all else fails, remove the distributor and place it on your work bench for repair. This may also allow you to precision drill the screw, if you have access to a drill press. Just be patient in all of this and you will likely get it out.

Next time, here's what I suggest:

Remove machine screw securing rotor to shaft, using a precision #2 Phillips head screwdriver. A 1/4-inch drive magnetic bit holder (e.g. Wiha 52650) with a #2 Phillips head bit works really well. It may be necessary to "hit" the starter once or twice, in order to rotate rotor for access to mounting screw.

Are you trying to get to the Ignition Control Module and coil?

You mentioned screws, not screw. Are we talking about the same thing? Rotors only have one mounting screw.

This one has two. Its screws that go right threw the router
