    My GE dryer makes a high pitched screech. What causes this,and how can I fix it?

    Mine does also.. the bearings are going.

    If you want to remove the top,like you're going to replace the belt, re-align the drum with the front and reassemble.

    Sometimes it makes a change,sometimes not.. sometimes it can make things worse.

    Unless someone else has a better idea, that's the best I can offer.

The forced air unit for my central air and heat this last week has started making a high pitched sound when the unit is not on in either the heat or a/c mode. The fau works when the system is turned on but the sound is always there when the system is not operating.
