Can Court Issue Modification to Release Me from Arrears
I live in NY and currently owe an amount in back child support. I have been unemployed for about two years. My ex wife has told me that she does not need my financial help any longer and wishes to release me from paying. Could I be released from having to pay the arrears/future support payments. What is the court process? Thanks so much for your help.

As far as arrears goes. If your ex wants to make the claim to a judge that the issue is settled yes, it can be done. So long as its not done under deception or duress. As far as future child support no. You are responsible for your child. The only way out of that would be to have another adopt the child and take on rights and responsibilities.
