    What's the difference between...
    Masturbation and intercourse?

I ask because I heard that masturbation for guys can negatively affect them, so I wonder if that's the case how come the sperm I during the intercourse doesn't have the same negative effects?
Its sperm in both cases so what's the big deal about masturbation?

By the way am 25 years old male and still virgin so my question may sound bit naïve.. just had to ask and know the answer.

There is really no negative effect from masturbation at all, and is in fact healthy (according my human sexuality professor)...so don't stress!!!!!!

It think it's really only a problem if it becomes compulsive.

There is no negative effects. Unless you masturbation becomes an addiction. Masturbation can also prevent you from learning how to control yourself when you are with a women. The reason being is men who masterbate like it fast and quick usually. So when they get into a relationship. They do not know how to please a women because they do not know how to hold it, slow it down and they are too quick. Too much masturbation can cause this to happen. Although masturbation for men and women are perfectly normal way of exploring their own personal body and that way when you do have a partner. Each other can learn about what makes each other feel good and explore each other from there. So no difference in sperm by masturbation or intercourse.

I agree, there are few, if any, significant differences between the physiological effects of masturbation as opposed to intercourse.
Many of the negative health attributions to masturbation probably have some origin in the founding beliefs of Chinese medicine. Most traditional Chinese medical texts state that a man should not ejaculate more than roughly four times a year. It is believed that to do so excessively can leads to a specific energetic deficiency in the kidneys, leading to bodily weakness, as well as other potential systemic disruptions of "chi."
Masturbation is probably more specifically singled out, not only because, due to relative ease of time and availability, one may be more apt to engage in such with slightly greater frequency, particularly outside a relationship -- but as well, once you delve into the intricacies of Tantric sexuality and the exchange of vital energies or essences, it is stated that the "lifeforce" gleaned from one's partner serves generally to counteract or surpass the energies lost with the expulsion of semen, in many cases.
George Carlin once joked that if a man masturbated so many times in a day, he would pass out squeezing the door handle on the way out of the house. Thus far though, there have been no such documented cases. :)

Don't know what you are talking about in terms of ejaculation during sex versus solo being better.

The only thing I could state is you potentially run the risk of physical and mental distractions. Meaning, half the excitement of sex is that you just don't get it anywhere all the time. Its like xmas. Only more frequent. Hopefully.

The point is that the anticipation is a big mental drive... not to mention that getting a little bent physically for the lack of can make it, when you finally get it, better.

Now... I'm not saying knowing yourself and your body is bad. Self stim can help you understand what you like and what works.

But mentally you might lose the edge a little... again, I think the craving it thing is good... at least when there's a chance you can actually get it. Nothing like it when a partner puts you to a wall and pretty much says she NEEDS it. Yeah. That the high life.

And physically letting one go can take the edge off the next one, if its anywhere near the first in time.

So... id say in general its not terrible, and sometimes a good idea even, but if it starts to mentally and/or physically take away from sex with a partner... well what good is that?

It might also be a religious belief... sperm not meant for procreation is wasted sperm and a sin. Not that I believe that...

    What are you talking about?

    a) I think you may be referring to the possibility of a 'hairtrigger' reflex problem. Premature ejaculation before intromission- before entering the vagina.

    b) The motility etc of sperm is no different between masturbation or intercourse.

Still not sure what the question is though.
