How do you remove the flange in a bathroom sink
I'm replacing the pop up drain in my bathroom sink and want to know how to remove the silver flange part that covers the drain in the sink bowl.

    Hi English...

There are a few different kinds of pop-up assemblies out there, but most of them will require you to loosen the nut/washer (RP6140) on the underside of the sink so that you can loosen the large black washer (RP6142) and push up on the pop-up assembly so you can unscrew the flange (RP23060) you asked about. You may or may not need a pair of pliers here.

You will also need to loosen the nut that attaches the entire pop-up assembly to the PTRAP... this will allow the pop-up assembly to slide up easier.

If your flange doesn't have threads up top then the other types unscrew from under the sink.

Your best bet here will be to get a good strong droplight and shine it in under the sink... should be clear what to do after that.

Any questions just pop back and let us know... OK?
