Would an ectopic pregnancy cause a false negative?
    Hi,

I don't really know much about Ectopic Pregnancies... However I was treated for Chlamydia about 3 years ago(very long story). Anyhow, I haven't had my period since the 9th of November and have had unprotected sex with my hubby all month. He isn't aware that I have ever been treated for Chlamydia, as it was before our time - and it's not something that I would like him to know either.

I feel like my period is coming, but I have had the same feeling for a bit under two weeks.. I don't think I have any symptoms or pregnancy as such, besides sore boobs, cramps, fatigued and increased appetite... which are all premenstrual symptoms. And I dismiss any thoughts that I may be having pregnancy symptoms due to perhaps I am being a hypochondriac.

But I am concerned, as I am having mild pain/cramping(not severe), still no period and with my history. I did do a sensitive pregnancy test yesterday, it was a negative. My question is, would an Ectopic Pregnancy cause a false negative?

I would appreciate any feedback and advice anyone is willing to offer.

    Please take care, Alex.

Hi Alex. I have had an ectopic pregnancy about 10 years ago. It is an extremely painful and unbearable pain in you lower abdomen, usually on one side. I was fortunate enough to be treated at hospital and not lose my tubes. I had a negative HPT. If you feel that you may have an ectopic, go the DR's or A&E urgently, It is very serious but can be treated at early stages. I would like to say on the flip side of that, that early pregnancy can cause cramping and you well be having a normal pregnancy.

    Tyvm Kerry,

I am just going to go see my GP today. I really haven't had any unbearable pain, although I have had cramping at one side at a time... it isn't consistent. Other times it can be on the other side. I have had the same cramping/pain since ovulation(I had ovulation pain).

Does anyone know whether it will be a hard task for us to fall pregnant with a natural pregnancy with my history?

Unfortunately without a physical examination we can't tell you how hard it will be for you to become pregnant.

I would ask your Doctor. As your cramping as not consistent and on both sides I would think its not ectopic as once the pain of ectopic pregnancy begins it doesn't stop. Also it would only be felt on one side - the side that it has occurred in. good luck at DR's.

Recently, I have taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. I am 5 days late and every day I've have the feeling that I am going to get my period... but it isn't coming. I have been on an antibiotic for acne for the past two weeks. I thought it could be the medicine but the doctor said it shouldn't be. I have had the cramping every day thus far. I have had chlamydia 2 years ago and thought maybe this could be an ectopic pregnancy. I've never missed a period. Just wondering... did you ever find out what it was?
