    Ceiling insulation
I'm redoing a bedroom ceiling that once was a garage. It has 2x6 trusses. It has R-11 faced fiberglas with the paper to the inside of the room, but is in poor shape.

A answer to my last question made me decide to remove the old insulation and put up a 8 mil pastic. The old fiberglass was put in then celulose insulation was blowen in on top of that,it looks as if that compressed the fiberglass down to 1"( not good ). What is the best way to insulate the ceiling that has trusses? I cann't put 6" in and then more running across it because of the trusses.

Should I just use blown in insulation? Thanks for your time.

If money is no object, then foam insulation would be best. Otherwise, its easiest to use blown in insulation.

It's a great idea to put up the plastic - but you should remove the paper face from the old insulation. In fact, if it has squished down to 1", then you should probably just take the old insulation out. There can only be one vapour barrier in use.

Also make sure there's adequate ventilation in the roof before you close it all up.
