Low pressure switch not engaging unit to work
Air conditioning unit will not turn on.. blower works but not the air unit. Inside the heat pump in basement , when we 'jumped' the two wires for the low pressure switch it engaged the unit to work for that temporary moment. What are the reasons for this? Low freon, bad pressure switch, other? Nothing looks frozen or leaking.

I don't see a reset but it looks now like there may be a leak.. rusted down side of what looks to be a round tank and some rust on floor.

Hello. I have isolated the reason that my AC won't start to one of the hi or low pressure cutoff switches. I did so by bypassing them and connecting the hot thermostat lead directly to the contactor. Started right up. Next I ohmed out the two switches. The one in the small line from the...

Importance of hi/low pressure switch for central ac system. [ 1 Answers ]

I am replacing a 27 year-old central ac system. Since it's a rental, I'm wanting something basic. A recommendation has been the 13 seer system from Payne, purportedly pretty much the same as a basic Carrier model. However, it does not have a hi/low pressure switch. How important is that switch?...

Pump pressure switch does not turn on with low pressure [ 0 Answers ]

I lost water in my home overnight. The pressure gage reads about 8 PSI. If I use the lever on the pressure switch to close the contacts, nothing happens. Actually, the pump controller box, makes a buzzing sound for a couple of seconds, but that's it. Does anyone have any thoughts? I don't...

Low producing well with pressure switch [ 3 Answers ]

Last year my plumber put a pressure switch on my well because we had some close calls with the water running dry. He did it to save the pump from burning out. I have a 536 foot deep well. It supposedly produces 350 gallons a day, which is considered low. Recently I had a family move into half of my...

Low pressure switch [ 2 Answers ]

When the unit is turned on in the inside the outside unit is not responding. I believe it is low on freon which is preventing the low pressure switch from coming on. When this switch is pressed manually the unit comes on.
