Heat Pump Not Cooling House During The Day
Details : We have a relatively new Bryant 3 Ton Heat Pump which has Puron for cooling. The House is about 1600 square feet. Durning the HOT days 90 and up here in South Carolina the Unit will run all day and never get caught up until the evening. It can get very uncomfortable in the house during the day. The vents feel like cool air is coming out.

What can I do to troubleshoot this or what questions do I need to ask a professional ? I have had bad experiences calling techs as most of them only know how to replace things and don't really know how anything works.

I'm not sure if my Heat Pump is undersized ? Not sure where to start or who to call...

    Lots of questions. LOL

There could be many items that would prevent the unit from doing a good job of cooling.

Has the unit ever performed well and cooled the house when it was hot outside or is this something new? Answer this first.

I would say that it has not ever performed well. We had this new Bryant unit put in about 3/4 years ago. We had a 2.5 ton unit and I had them go up to 3 ton since the 2.5 ton really did not do the job. Now the 3 ton unit does not do the job, or at least what I think it should do. I think if you paying for a cooling system then the house should feel cool. Especially when the electric bill is high since the unit runs all day every day. So I would say this unit and it's predecessor have not cooled the house well.

To find out the real size of unit you need a manual J needs to be done on your home. The problem with your unit could be almost anything from wrong size to not properly installed. Click on the little info link below to see how a sale of HVAC equipment should be done.
