Hi

I am a F1 visa holder and my visa is expiring in December 2010. So can you please tell me what the procedure to renew the visa?
Do I need to go back my country or I can do it from my current place(USA).

To renew a visa, you must apply at a US consulate or US embassy, all located outside the US.

Are you referring to the visa for travel? If you are, and you do not intend to travel, you should check your I-94, as it is likely annotated D/S for "duration of status", this is a non date-specific entry to allow for you to stay in the US as long as you have a valid SEVIS I-20 and are making normal progress in your academic program.

I would check with your DSO, usually referred to as the foreign student advisor as to your status. I hope this was helpful. Good luck!
