    Toilet in a finished attic
I am installing a toilet in a finished attic. The soil stack runs up the center of the attic then takes a 90 degree bend and runs parallel with the floor next to the joists for about 10 feet then 90's up through the roof.

Would there be any problem with installing a T in the part of the stack that runs parallel with the ground and installing the toilet about half way on the parallel section?

    Thanks

    Lou

    Hey Lou,
You have a problem from the git-go. As it stands right now the pipe in your attic is a vent stack. By discharging a toilet into it you are changing it into a stack vent. This means that you will have to go to the fixtures that are using this pipe for a vent and disconnect from the pipe and run separate vents on each individual fixture. What you propose to do is discharge a major fixture into a vent stack and you can not do this. Sorry Lou, but adding a toilet just isn't that simple. Regards, Tom
