1991 Acura Integra with an electrical problem of some sort. Noticeable when you attempt to start the car, there are sparks seen at the end of the clutch cable where it attaches at the transmission, then smoke comes out of the clutch cable insulation and if the key is left on, the cable begins to melt and smoke like crazy? Trying to get an idea where this voltage in the clutch cable is coming from? Needless to say, the car will not start with the key, but pushing it and jumping it off seems to get it running and seems to drive fine, it's just a problem when attempting to start the car with the key, and the starter will only click when the key is turned? 2 different starters were tried, both tested good at the parts store and a new alternator was recently installed as well as a new battery. Just trying to get an idea of where to start? Any help will be appreciated. Ignition switch was replaced today in hope of fixing this problem, no go, same problem. Thanks!

Clutch cables were replaced with hydraulic clutch assembles years ago. It must be something else.

Yes sir it is something else! Found out what the problem was, there was no ground wire between the transmission and frame ground? Not sure what happened to it, but added the ground wire, the car starts just fine and no melting, no sparks, just runs good. Only problem now is since the cable melted, it messed up the adjustment nut at the end and can no longer be turned. Hunting up another clutch cable right now. Evidently the clutch cable was acting as the ground and heating up and melting everything in sight. Thanks for responding!
