I have a well that that was constantly being triggered each time the water was turned on or a toilet flushed. The gauge would constantly tick as this happpened. Because I needed a water filter for iron removal I was advised that I should have a pressure tank because the well pump could eventually burn out due to the constant trigger and it pulls more electricity. We are a family of 4 in a single wide. A 20 gallon pressurized well tank was installed and now there is no more ticking. I was told that since I have jet pump I didn't need a pressure tank. Do I need to have the pressure tank removed? The constant ticking did stop when it was installed. Also the light does not flicker anymore.
Need clarity. Thanks.

Keep the tank. I don't know who told you that, but wells need pressure tanks. Did they say why the system would not need a tank?

BTW, how is your filter working? I'm looking for a good one myself.

Hi jlsenbe! Thanks for your response. I was told that since the well has a jet pump it does not need a pressure tank/"holding tank." It does not make sense to me. The filter is working well. The cold water is clear and the hot water is just about clear also--takes a few days for the hot water remaining in the tank to dissipate. So far so good. My filter was installed by a company called "Water Source." It was costly but worth it because I could not use the water at all! And flushing the well with chlorine bleach or putting the $40 filter in did not remove the iron. Thanks again.
