Ceiling fan motor is hot to the touch.
First off, thank you for your help.

I have gone through 3 NEW ceiling fans, the first one popped and died while I was sitting in the room. Thinking it was defective, I returned it. Upon the installation of the second one, I noticed the motor was RIDICULOUSLY hot after running only a short time. Hot enough to cause a burn after only a second or so. The lights have worked fine and do not cause it to get hot or fail. All 3 have been low-end Harbor Breeze(Lowe's) fans.

In a separate room, I installed a smaller version, also new, and noticed the same overheating issue after running it for 10 minutes.

I have had an aircraft electrician(family friend) double check all my wiring, he even connected his meter to the house wiring to make sure everything was running correctly. He also checked my fusebox to see if he could find anything. He wasn't able to find any rhyme or reason to this issue. I have two fans (already in the house when we bought it a few years ago) in other rooms that cause no problem at all. They get slightly warm, but from my research, that should be normal. The house was built around 1982.

I have exhausted myself researching this issue with little insight to show for it. I am not very knowledgeable about electricity, but wiring a fan is simple.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I installed one of the fans in the nursery that I hope to have completed in the next few weeks. Living in Texas with a due date of late August, this fan is very important!

    What model are the fans?

Motors get hot. And the cheaper the fan, the hotter it will get. If you bought the $29.99 special, you can use it to fry eggs. It will probably do that better than move air.

Spend a little more, get a Hunter. It will still get hot but you will have a better fan.
