    Setting out a site
Need help with the setting out of a site.

Just the procedures of how to set out a precast concrete building, or a website with help will do.

I've searched everywhere - Google, bing etc - and the information is just pathetic and useless!

Not sure exactly what you want. Site prep in grading?
Location of structure to public services. Are you asking footer Requirements?

I and many others on the site could easily help you with this. We volunteers on AMAD are in all the trades of the building industry. So, Clearer specifics would be needed here to help..

    Okay...

I'm on a construction site just about to sdet out a pre-cast concrete building - with regards to surveying type of setting out.

Using whatever equipment e.g. theodoloite, total station etc IDK, I need to find the procedures of how to set out for this type of construction, and then to check for verticality.

    Does that help? Cheers.

Well me being a surveyor I believe I can help you. The first thing is to plot where you want the building and I assume that it will meet the minimum setbacks right? You then can simply lay one side out, the longer line is more accurate, setting a stake or pin at each end. Now you have 2 options, set up the transit on one end, sight the other and turn 90° and go down the side to the end point at your building distance. Or, with the help of a couple of people, you can cross-chain the other two points in, using the diagonal to pull from the far corner. Make sure you check the diagonals before you call it good. We do on every house stake and it is a tried and true method to be sure you have everything right.

There's an old but excellent book called "How to design and build your own house" by Lupe Di Donno (see Amazon) which gives chapter and verse on this and loads of other house-building stuff. It was written back in the 1970s, but explains all the basics using low-tech methods -- ideal for self-builders like us. It enabled me to (among other things) set out my basement so accurately that the professional log-home builders who placed their log home on my basement said "we've seen worse from professionals"... and that was my first-ever house!
