    Hello!

I have a crown on one molar tooth. For some time there was a gap between the edge of the crown and the gum and my tooth was sore when a cold drink touch it. My dentist never said it needs to be replace.
A few days ago I began to feel a sharp pain in my tooth. Now my whole face is swollen and I take painkillers every few hours. I experienced 20 years ago similar symptoms and then the dentist extracted my tooth and the annaesthetic that I was given prior to the procedure did not have efect because of the infection.
I assume I need antibiotics at the moment and need to see a dentist ASAP. My question is :should I have the tooth extracted?

Blackonyx, without being able to visualize the x-ray there is no way to tell for sure. You need to see your dentist.
