    Sueing former employer for slander.
I was told by my ex husband his friend who works at the same place I was terminated from is telling people I was terminated for stealing. This is NOT true. I worked at this bank for years. I have never been approached with stealing anything. I do know all of the privacy laws within the banking system. What I need to know is, can I sue this bank for slander when it's their employee spread these lies?

You could sue, but you will need to show that you have been damaged by what this person is saying.

    Consult an attorney.

Your husband's friend is saying this? You can sue the bank if he is saying it in the course of his employment.

Do you know anyone who was actually told this.

Your "ex" told you, HUMMM sorry but not the best sourse, you need to address this to the bank, and to the employee to see if it is even true, find people who were actually told

I don't see the Bank being liable here - you cannot control what your employees are saying or doing. I see a lawsuit against the person spreading the lie IF your reputation has been damaged (someone believed the lie) AND if you've suffered monetary damages.

If my employee is running around doing something like this and I am warned and I do nothing to/with the employee and it continues, then I see my liability. In this situation - I don't see it.
