    Shoplifting in canada
    Hello,

I did shoplifting last February. What happen was security of there arrest me outside of the shop and take me to the security. He took my pic ans ask my for ID card. He told me, he forgive me because it is the first time. And then he let's me go. After a month a receive a letter at home form lawyer of the shop that I have to pay $500 to the company. I paid it.
Is the story finished?or now I have criminal file. Actually I am in the process of immigration and next step in background check. It means problem or not?
    Thanks for answering

It doesn't sound like police were involved and you paid as requested by their lawyer. Seems thy didn't want police involved either and a lot of what he did was just for show, but you paid $500 saberi, was that the amount of the stuff you shoplifted? If not, the proprietor saw a way to make a buck out of you. If this is the case, then I don't think you have to worry about you background check, just have it done. If you didn't hear by now from the Courts, then I don't think it is going to happen. You are lucky.
