Is there anyone here that can help me. I am scared for my dog. PLEASE anyone?
My dog has been to the vet three times in the past two weeks. It started with a very bad skin irritation and swollen lymph nodes in his neck. When I took him to the vet she said she thought he might have cancer. She at that point prescribed him cephelexian 500mg twice daily and prednisone 20 mg twice a day for 3 days and then as directed, with famotidine 20 mg. She said, if in a week he hadn't shown any improvement she wanted to do a biopsy. He began to show great improvement. A week past and we returned for his visit. The vet said to continue with the meds and wanted to see him back in another week. But when he had finished the prednisone 3 days after, his lymph nodes were swollen again. Also He had what appeared to me to be a blister or boil on his muzzle close to his mouth. I called the vets office and informed them what was going on. They said to bring him in and they would do a blood test. I took him in but the vet that was handling everything wasn't there, the surgeon was.the surgeon did the blood test and a cbc w/diff and said everything was normal except his white count was low.He said he thought max may have lupus. But he gave more predisone and cipro. He also said max looked to have vasculitous. But now he seems to be in pain and isn't eating very much and has two of the same type of boils on his hind end. He is drinking over gallon of water a day. I am scared. He has another appt @ the vet on Friday but I think he needs to be seen sooner. PLEASE help..
