3 weeks ago, a brand new Goodman, 2 ton system was installed. Condenser outside, air handler, line set. Went to use it last night, it isn't really blowing too much.

Air Handler runs(it is making the usual noise that it is running), condenser unit is running, liquiline is cool, but there is very little air coming out. I mean very little air. It seems to cool, but there is so little of it coming out. The dampers on the flex pipes at the air handler are wide open, there isn't much air being sucked in at the intake, the filter is new, not clogged.

I have a call out to the installer, but I was wondering: Is there a setting for the fan inside the handler so bump it up some more? Is this something that needs to be worked out on the first hot day? Should I expect to pay for a service call? I just spent a lot of money 3 weeks ago, I figured I had something I wouldn't have to worry about for a while.

The day it was installed it was on and ran very very quietly. That day was 55 degrees so it was hard to tell about cooling. I think it was running quietly because the unit isn't doing very much.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I am waiting for the installer to call me back.

No way, I would not pay a dime more, You already got ripped off getting a goodman. Is this a varable speed blower? May be you do not need much air flow? Is it keeping the house to temp?

Why did I get ripped off getting a Goodman? The forum FAQ says it isn't a bad unit, but the key with AC is in the installation.

About this unit, it isn't blowing much of anything to cool anything. It is 2 tons in an 800 square foot area. As I understand, this should be more than enough to cool this well insulated area. I will ask the tech if there is something he can do about this. I am concerned I will be told this is what it is.

I would say you have a install problem, or the fan speed is set to low? If the ductwork in the condo was not right the unit you to out would have not blow any air either. 800 sf only needs 1.07 tons so you should have pleanty off cooling.

The unit I replaced blew pretty well... until it died and then it still blew, just not cold. In fact, a service tech remarked that the dampers at the air handler could be shut a little so they didn't blow so hard. I am pretty sure the duct work is good.

So then it sounds like I have a fan speed problem.

FYI- It's a Goodman 2 Ton 13 seer GSX130241A. Air Handler is ARUF182416

Take the door off and look what it is set to, it will be on the control board will say cool. Look what color wire is on it.

I just wanted to follow up since there was a happy ending. I am not sure there are enough happy endings on this board.

A service tech came back. This unit apparently is wired for 3 different fan settings. (Good call Joshdta) It was on medium, the tech put it to high. I don't find a little down draft from the vents obnoxious and prefer it actually, so the blowing issue is addressed.

The "coolness" issue had to do with the unit have the wrong sized "bullet" on the line set and the line was "overcharged" so the 410A couldn't move through the lines well enough. He corrected both issues. The unit is running great now.

Best part, no charge since obviously the other guy made what he said were "rookie" mistakes. But I did buy the tech lunch.
