    Goldfish pond Algae
    Hi, I'm having a terrible time with algae in our goldfish pond, 150 gallon. I've tried throwing pennies in the pond pre 1986(Iread this in a book), algaecides, algae eaters and chlorine (which I hate to say killed my fish). Does anyone know a solution for this problem??

    If you have no fish in it anymore:eek:, just empty it out and start fresh.

    If you already bought new fish, go to Wal-Mart. In their pet dept, they have chemicals for different kinds of Algae that won't harm your fish.

    If your pond is in the sun, you will always have algae when it starts getting warm.

    Most pet stores have books on how to control algae in outdoor pools and safe chemicals to use.

    Improve filtration to carry out excessive nutrients that the fish are not. Algae is a plant that feeds off the nutrients and photosynthesize. So if you have a 150 gallon outdoor pond then you'll need to improve filtration. If you have a 150 gallon tank you'll need to move it away from sun light and improve filtration.
