How to cement around an inground pool
We are ripping up old bricks around an inground pool and we want to place cement around it instead. We just don't know how to go about doing it ourselves. Any ideas?

Use the top of the pool where the bricks use to be as one elevation. Grade the new area that you want to cement lower that the top of the pool. This lets rain water that rains on the poured cement drain away from pool. not in it. On the outer edge of the graded area you will have to set forms on ground and stake them strong enough to hold the new cement until it dries. After pouring it will have to be struck off anl bullfloted to a smoth surface, After that dries remove forms. Then landscape around concrete. This is clear as mud I bet.

Electrically, there is a lot more too it. You need to place an equipotential grid under the cement before it's poured.

Best to consult an electrician. You may have to have it inspected before the pad is poured.

You can read the NEC online. See the Sticky in Elevtrical and Lighting.

I don't recommend doing the bonding yourself. The metallic portions of the pool have to be bonded such s skimmer, pump, water, ladders, grid etc.

Existing pool liner has come off (bought home with pool as is) cement patches needed. I want to just paint the cement and fill the pool. Is that doable, or do I need the pool liner.
