    Goodman furnace question
Brand new Goodman forced air furnace. When the thermostat drops below the temperature setting, the furnace tries to turn on... I hear a lot of clicking, for up to 5 minutes stratight sometimes, until finally I think I hear the flame come on and the unti starts up and heat follows shortly thereafter.

What is the deal with this clicking? Can I fix it?

    Thanks

I am not sure what type of ignitor that you have but some furnaces have a flame sensor that looks like a stiff wire sticking up in the flame of one of the burners when it is lit. This sensor senses the flame through an electric current and is the sensor is dirty the current as well as it should and makes the furnace try to relight after it fails. You can take this sensor out and sand it with some sand cloth and replace it. DO NOT try to bend the wire for any reason.
If you do not have this type then look for something similar

Model number and efficiency please. If it is 90% I would look at possiple venting issues.

The click you here is the spark ignitor(it works like a spark plug on a car). If it takes a long time to light you may just have a dirty pilot assembly. It should light in about 10 sec. after the first spark or click in your case. It will only get worse. Good luck

I have a goodman furnace. Forced air. No a/c. I turn the power on and she starts. Thermostat is off. No wires are crossed that are visible. The pilot does not ignite but the heating element is on. No gas seems to be coming through. Any suggestions? The furnace is only a year and a half old.
