I have exspunged my felonies in California can I own a gun now

Have you dropped by your local gun shop and gotten an application? That may have the answer on it. Was everything erased or was it a juvinile record and sealed?

All my felonies were dropped to a mismeaner

Then you could give it some time and put in an application for one. The reason for giving it time is because your on all the computers and it takes awhile before it gets through the system. Also make sure there are no other conditions that would prohibit you from owning one. Restraining orders can prevent you from gun ownership and they fall into an independent category.

According to this some misdemeanors will keep you from getting one also.

To have a PFEC performed, you must submit a completed PFEC application form, a photocopy of your California identification card and a $20 fee. Your PFEC application must be signed, contain your thumbprint, and notarized by a registered notary public

It has been at least 3 years since the exspungment so I should just go down and apply for a gone. There is no punishment for trying right

That way you know for sure and I don't believe there is a penalty if you take that route. Get checked out first.
