Mt poulan lawn tractor dies when I lower the deck past 4. 3,2, and 1 kills the motor!
Mower starts, runs, and mows in posititions 6,5, and 4. However if I drop the deck to 3, 2, or 1 it dies when I let off the clutch. When running in the fourth position if I try to drop to 3,2, or 1 it dies instantly. Have no idea what to adjust? Please help... I like to shave my grass low not on level 4. LOL

Check all the wiring that comes near the deck, only thing I can picture is a kill switch is shorting when the deck is really low. Does it die even if you are sitting over your driveway? You can lower a deck while the blades are turning and the mower is sitting still, does this kill your engine too?

Seat kill switch on poulan lawn tractor [ 4 Answers ]

Hey folks. My Poulan lawn tractor started to die every time I let the clutch out. An "expert" on another discussion board suggested that the problem was likely the seat emergency plug and it simply wasn't sensing that I was in the seat. To test the theory, he said I should clip the plug and bypass...
