We found a dog on the side of the road halfway dead I feel as if maybe he has been there a few days. He is all skin and bones. He had a huge tick on his foot about the size of dime and many others. He will not eat but he will drink water. He doesn't move around. He lays and looks around as if he was seeing things. And I don't think he can use his back legs? He hasn't been with us to long but what should we do and what is possibly wrong with him?

It could be any number of things. It's possible that he was hit by a car.

There's very little you can do for him, yourself. Get the ticks off him, carefully, first thing. If he's willing to drink, try getting him to drink some chicken broth (the kind from the can, not cubes).

As soon as possible, tomorrow would be best, get him to a vet. He needs to be checked for broken bones, internal injuries, malnutrition, infection, and any number of other things.

This dog really needs to go to the vet. I know that may not be feasible seeing as it's not your dog, but the only other option is to make him comfortable and hope for the best. If he's not eating or drinking he won't last long.

You could also try calling your local shelter or pound. They should pick up the dog and see to it that he gets the necessary medical help.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
