Pictures of mold and mildew on cinder block
Our house is in Nashville TN and unfortunately our basement was flooded during the rain. The water was seeping through the cinder block walls in our basement. I am not sure what mold looks like on cinder block and I am trying to find a way that I can prevent mold and mildew from taking over in my basement-is there any kind of home remedies I can use on the cinder block to kill mold and mildew?

Molds need a high humidity to grow. There are dessicant packages available to cut the humidity down. One brand is "Damp-Rid," there are others. As severe as the flooding was reported, you may want to invest in a dehumidifier.

Are the walls covered? If so you may need to strip that off and let it air a few months.

First off your home is not likely cinder block, cement block (CMU). Spray with a mildewcide but removing the moisture first is key to prevention. Mold spores are everywhere and will grow in only moist conditions
