    Setting up 401K after divorce
Hi Divorce was granted in June/July of 09 in CO. In divorce decree, I was awarded 1/2 of ex's 401K. I don't have a 401K of my own. How do I go about getting one set up in my name with the 1/2 of his that I am entitltled to? It's not too late is it? What paperwork do I need? FYI - I now live in FL.

You don't set up a 401(k) of your own, but rather you roll your half of the account to your own IRA.

First step is to determine where you want to have this account set up. If you already have an IRA, simply call the custodian of your account and ask how to proceed to roll your half of your ex's 401(k). If you don't already have an IRA, you'll need to set one up. My suggestion is to look into some of the major players in the market whi have low-cost accounts - companies like Vanguard, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, Schwab, etc.
