Urine test negative 12 days periods late
    Hi,
I am 28 yrs trying to conceive for the past 1 1/2 yr... I have beeen to the gyn 6 months ago for a check she told everything is fine and asked us to continue our sex life... she prescribed folic acid which I'm taking for the past 3 months or so... well now the issue is my periods is 12 days late, usually my cycle is 30 days and has been late once for not more than a week. I did 3 HPT's one on the first on 6th, 2nd on 8th, and the 3rd on the 11th day... all were negative. As I have been reading a lot about these questions I found out probably the HCG is low so it comes negative... well so today at the pathology I got urine and blood test... the result of blood test would come in 2 days but urine test said its negative... im very depressed I don't have any symptoms of preganancy... and of periods... although there were cramps on my thighs and stomach a few days back which lasted for not more than 15 minutes I thought my periods would start but nopes have showed yet... can anybody please help me... I need an advice please...

It could be your period is just late this month... or you may skip it altogether... it happens sometimes, even if you have been regular before. See what results you get from your blood test. If not pregnant, it may just be a matter of more time, but since it has been over a year, you might ask your doctor about some additional testing for you and for your husband.

    Thanks for your post,
Well let me start my story, on 30th of march I started with my periods which lasted for 4 days, I had been started using BBT as me and my husband have been planning since 1 and 1/2 yr, but I didn't knew that BBT has to be taken before getting up from bed... I used to always take it after pee... but it fluctuated and had 2 high temp 1 was on the 15th day of my cycle and the 2nd was on 26th day of my cycle that is 24th of April 2010. Earlier to 24th my temp used to go dropped till 96.4 and know my temp has been constant 97 or 97.2... till date... my periods have been late for 15 days so I went on the 42nd day of my cycle that was 10th of may got blood and urine test, it came out negative, blood test was <5 ml... then my question to the gyn was why I didn't get my periods she did a test something similar to songraphy I guess ultrasound... and told me its nothing... what do I do now, I wanted to know whether Am I pregnant and after how many weeks can you see something in ultrasound because my friend told me I cld be pregnant as in ultrasound it doesn't shows up so early... I need an advice sorry for such a big story.

Unfortunately you won't be able to go by the temps you had used before since you had been up and about prior to taking them. Temps naturally fluctuate at different times of the day, with activity, etc. this is why using BBT needs to be done the same time each day before getting out of bed. It usually takes a few months, at least, to notice some sort of pattern in order to use it for determining when you most likely ovulated. Again, it doesn't mean you actually did ovulate, only that your body prepared to ovulate.

It would be too early just yet to pick something up on the ultrasound. Sometimes by about 5 weeks they may notice changes, but it can just as easily be missed that early.
With a 30 days cycle, you are either late or have missed just this one period. It may just be an off cycle, but see what happens when your period for May is due. If you are indeed pregnant, you will likely know at that time. Some doctors don't even do blood tests until a second period is missed simply because it is not unusual to miss one here or there for various reasons.

Certainly if you feel you are having other potential pregnancy symptoms, try another home test or let your doctor know. Since you are trying to get pregnant, you are probably already taking care of yourself the same as if you were pregnant... eating well, avoiding things you know are unhealthy, taking your prenatal vitamins, regular exercise, etc.. Again, if you go much longer without becoming pregnant, ask about having some testing done for both you and your husband.

Fingers crossed for you that if it doesn't happen this time around it happens pretty soon.

You may want to speak to your doctor about Vitafol-OB prenatals. They contain plenty of folic acid (1mg) plus other vitamins and minerals. The Vitafol 5mg is just folic acid and more than is necessary when trying to conceive or when pregnant. (exception might be if you had already had a child with spina bifida before) Are you taking it due to an anemia or as just a prenatal?

A good multivitamin would be good if you feel your diet is not sufficient to be sure you are getting an adequate amount of many vitamins and minerals.

Its quite possible that you ovulated late, or haven't yet. If that is the case, your blood work would be negative and an ultrasound would not show a pregnancy. Before 6-7 weeks gestation, ultrasounds are not generally recommended.

BBT are no longer accurate once you've gotten up and moved about - even if your routine is consistent every day. I'd recommend ignoring those temps from when you got up to use the restroom and start over after your next period.

If you are pregnant already, time will tell. If you're period doesn't arrive in a weeks time, test again.

I don't know what may be available where you live. If you can get the Vitafol-OB that would be a good choice. Here is one site that gives you an idea of what to look for when you look at what is available in your area:

Less than 5mIU/ml is considered negative. If still no period this month, try another test. It may have been too early when the test was done or you may have just skipped a period.
