Getting jerked around by the locals
I've been trying to buy a house for the past 4 months or so. Make a long story short on that, it ended up back on the market once the repo was completed and I'm trying to get it for cheap. The only thing that is holding me back is a problem with the well pump and/or pressure tank. Here is what the home inspector wrote in his report:

    WELL WATER SYSTEM EVALUATION

    Municipal water available: unknown
    Location of well: northeast yard
    Construction: drilled
    Size: 4-5" (approx)
    Depth: unknown
    Age: unknown
    Pump size: unknown
    Storage/Pressure Tank: pressure
    Pump location: submersible
    Tank location: kitchen
NOTE: The water pressure did not appear adequate at times. It appeared that the pump was not capable of keeping up with the demand for water. The pressure tank made unsual noises when filled and appeared to be "sucking air" as evidenced by the air bubbles in the filter system. Recommend further evaluation by a licensed plumber or well installer.

I called around trying to find someone to give me an estimate and was able to get someone from a local plumbing and heating place to go out the next morning. I EXPLAINED to him WHY I needed the estimate, that it was important for me to get this taken care of before closing.

He picked up the keys from the realtor, went out to the house, dropped the keys off at the realtor and the realtor called me with the results. I was under the impression that this guy had actually done a WRITTEN ESTIMATE. NO. When I called them to get a copy of the estimate, there was none. All he did was look at it and TELL the realtor what HE thought it would cost, which was $250 parts and labor. I was given attitude by some jerk over the phone who proceeded to tell me that the person who did the estimate has a lot of experience, blah blah blah. So they referred me to another company who was willing to do another estimate. Now THIS company wants to charge me $700, as opposed to the original 'unwritten' estimate which was less than half!

I have yet to get someone who can get their head out of their butt long enough to get this done. Can anyone give me some idea what could actually be going on with the water system?

You can always add a storage tank to your system and have plenty of water. If you have municipal water available why don't you connect to it. If you don't do that
